Discover Scuba Diving

What's it like to breathe underwater for the first time?

Meet Discover Scuba Diving: the PADI experience built for people who have never dived before.

You don't need any diving experience to start

Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) — often called "batismo de mergulho" by Brazilian divers — was created by PADI so that anyone, even with zero experience, can feel firsthand what it's like to breathe and move underwater — safely, with a professional guiding you the entire time.

The questions everyone asks before starting

Is it safe?

Yes. The entire experience follows PADI safety standards, with one-on-one guidance from a certified professional from start to finish.

Do I need experience?

No. Discover Scuba Diving is designed exactly for people who have never strapped on a tank before.

What happens during the experience?

You get a simple briefing, practice basic skills in shallow water, and then dive with a guide, breathing underwater through scuba gear for the first time.

What will I see?

That depends on the day's conditions and the site our team chooses — but the experience of breathing underwater is usually unforgettable on its own.

01

Before the dive

You'll get all your orientation on land: how the equipment works, underwater hand signals, and the plan for the experience. It's also your chance to ask the instructor anything.

02

During the experience

With a guide close by, you'll practice breathing and staying balanced underwater in shallow depth before moving into the main part of the experience, always at your own pace.

03

What to expect

Feeling nervous beforehand is completely normal — and it usually turns into a strong urge to dive again the moment the experience ends.

Equipment

Mask, fins, buoyancy control device, regulator, and tank — all technical gear is provided and fitted for you by our team.
