Enriched Air Nitrox
Dive with oxygen-enriched air and extend your bottom time more safely.
Why take this course
- Longer bottom time within no-decompression limits
- Many divers report feeling less fatigued afterward
- Can be completed quickly, often in a single classroom session
The Enriched Air Nitrox specialty teaches you to dive with oxygen-enriched air blends — typically EANx32 or EANx36 — which carry less nitrogen than regular air. That means longer bottom time within no-decompression limits, and many divers report feeling less fatigued afterward.
It's one of the most popular PADI specialties and can, in many cases, be completed in a single classroom session with no required dives — though practical Nitrox dives can be included. Worth repeating: Nitrox doesn't let you dive deeper — it actually reduces your maximum operating depth compared to air, due to the risk of oxygen toxicity.
